Hopelessly In Love

This yearling filly has it all! Dragonfire Hopeful (Dragonfire Kirin x Coulee Bend Anticipation) is a full sibling to both Dragonfire Lotus and Dragonfire Feng Shui, both very promising Three Day Eventers. Her blood is filled with World Champion performers and Sport Horse Champions. She has extraordinary rhythm, we have never seen a Morgan with such a beautiful hesitation in their stride. And if that weren't enough, she will bring high drama to her performances with tons of white and a white/blonde mane. To top it off, she is as easy going as they come and sweet as honey. Caroline Dein has had a very wonderful birthday indeed! With her surprise new mount, Lucid Opposition, she made a sweep at the Leone A-Rated Hunter/Jumper Show with three wins in her Jumper classes. There's no question that Lucy and Caroline are fast becoming a super team, the only question is, are the Deins' looking to adopt a slightly aging (and only somewhat grumpy) horse trainer into the family? (My birthday is in October...) Dragonfire congratulates the Dein Family on this great new partnership... we can't wait to see what these two can do in the future!

It was such a wonderful surprise to find out that I was to be named into the Honor Roll for my involvement with Morgans in the sport of Three Day Eventing. Of course, so many others have been a driving force in my success. Such as my family for starting Dragonfire and breeding amazing athletes for me to compete with. Dragonfire Kublakhan himself, for having a heart the size of Texas and more brains than I could ever claim at that stage of my life. And my clients/friends that have believed in me every step of the way. Without any one of these, I know that I could not have stumbled on to the wonderful path that I travel today. I am blessed in every way, and believe me, I know it!

Earl and In A Dream have been turning some heads on the cross country course, including top saddle maker, CWD. Earl is thrilled to have CWD be his official saddle for competition for all three phases, since they are the most balanced and most comfortable saddles on the market. Flexing Her Morgan Might

Four year old Dragonfire Lotus (Dragonfire Kirin x Coulee Bend Anticipation) went to her first unrecognized Event and lead from start to finish, to win her division. Guided by Devyn Rau around the Camelot Equestrian Park course, Lotus was brave and full of style... gaining new fans for the Morgan breed. Honestly, is there anything cuter??? (Well, maybe her future debut with Taylor McFall will be cuter...)

Galway CIC and Twin Rivers CCI Recap

Both the Galway CIC ** and the Twin Rivers CCI** were successful trips for Earl and the Dream Girl (AKA In A Dream). Galway was their first FEI competition together and was a bit of a eye opener on the mare's depth. She was very good for the Dressage, but may have rather left it at that on Friday. Instead she was asked to jump her show jump round in 90 degree weather later that same day when she had been used to the mid-fifties. Though the distances and rhythm were good, she just couldn't leave those colored rails alone and three came down. Earl was very disappointed and a bit worried about what the next day would bring for them on the longest track they would have tackled together to date. But Dream came thru like a true professional and they made short work of the big and technical course. Devyn and I had a bit of "an incident" trying to keep up with them on course, and had to be satisfied with the announcer telling us of their job well done at each complex. By adding only a few seconds to their score, they moved up in the placings and finished the competition in seventh.

Which is faster: horse or machine?? The Answer: When Devyn and Jenny are riding double on a dirt bike, definitely HORSE! This is a picture of the skid mark we left trying to keep up with Earl and Dream. The print of where we rolled around on the ground after the bike reared over on us, and the embarrassed faces of the onlookers...not shown.

Earl's prowess across country was a highlight at The Twin Rivers CCI**. The eight minute track was quite a bit longer than Galway, so fitness and the rider's ability to stay sharp at the end came into play. Earl and Dream were certainly up to the task, and the duo turned quite a few heads with their textbook round. To top off the weekend, they bettered their stadium record the next day with just one down to finish in fifth overall.

Both High Times and Wrigley had stellar rounds in the Preliminary level with myself and Natalie Jensen aboard. We were both looking for clean and confident trips around the cross country with our somewhat emotional boys. Although we sacrificed time to go clean, we both felt we made strides to improve our horses' ride-ability.

Congratulations to the Vaughn Family of Akron, Ohio on their purchase of Merriewold Hanah for Ally Vaughn. Hanah was bred and owned by Merriewold Morgans and reached great heights with Earl McFall in the irons. She has had wins in Dressage, Hunter Pleasure, Hunters Over Fences and had started a successful Eventing career in two short years. She now is under the direction of Holly Robinson and will be Ally's partner in the Sport divisions. We wish them the best of luck for many years to come!
