Over The Moon In Oregonhouse

Elated at Eventful Acres
Dragonfire's maiden riders got their competitive feet wet at the 2012 May Event at Rod and Karen Hiskens' lovely Eventful Acres. The venue in Oregonhouse, CA is picture perfect with green meadows, well made cross country jumps, and a stadium course that competes with any recognised event. A place like this is crucial to bringing along young event riders and horses alike and we appreciate all of the hard work that it takes too keep Eventful Acres up and running.

Our students really shined at this show, and were very impressive with their sportsmanship and horse management skills. These well rounded riders did a wonderful job taking care of their horses and stabling area, as well as all coming home with ribbons! Our more experienced girls did what we knew they would do, and were fantastic leaders to the newbies as they dealt with their upper level rides. Go Team DF!

Hailey Popham and her own Malachey absolutely shined at their first Elementary event. Two double clear rides ended them in sixth place in their division.

Maddy Rau and Aurio Sectio in the Training Division.

Maddy and Aurio put forth a professional weekend for second place.
Taylor McFall really brought home the bacon with her pony Roses Are Blue. The pair convincingly won their Elementary division despite their small stature.

Mia Bouslough and her Rio's Gold gave a wonderful first effort for fifth overall in Elementary.  Mia's early morning enthusiasm was almost as impressive as her showing debut.

Makena Graber and Mr. Chew continued their winning ways with a first place finish wire to wire in their Elementary division.

High Times Indeed: The Spring Event At Galway Downs

High Times and Jennifer McFall lead the Open Intermediate at the Spring Galway Downs from start to finish. Although ending with a blue ribbon is always nice, the true victory came in the maturity that this horse showed throughout the competition. High Times was quite workman-like in his Dressage test (which was a first!), he was adjustable in the Stadium, and was smooth and soft in his Cross Country. He even garnered compliments from the ground jury after his run!

Dragonfire Lotus absolutely stole the show in her debut at Beginner Novice with Jennifer McFall piloting. The young Lotus was all things adorable when it came to tackling the great jump courses that Galway has to offer. She was game, easy to navigate, and picture perfect everywhere she went. Channeling her uncle, Dragonfire Kublakhan by means of wearing his breastplate, it is very possible that this little Morgan darling is going to have a fan club like his some day.

Dragonfire To Host Gina Miles

Dragonfire is thrilled to be hosting a Gina Miles Clinic June 9th and 10th. That's right folks, Gina Miles, the Olympic Silver Medalist will be here to teach you all she knows and will have you well on your way to standing on a podium.

After two days cram-packed with international knowledge handed down to you on a silver platter by Gina, you might be closer than you think!

Your Dressage problems will be a thing of the past, as the first day of the clinic will focus on the flat as well as show jumping exercises.

This could be you after the first day.....

The second day will be all jumping with emphasis on cross country exercises.

There won't be any carousel riding here, but you will certainly have fun as you improve your eventing skills.

The clinic fee is $265 for two days of intimate sized groups that will guarantee that Gina will be able to give you the attention you need to improve. The Dragonfire facility also boasts a fantastically large ring with several types of stadium and cross country type obstacles that will give you the challenge you desire. Auditors will be just as pleased with the large seating area on the raised berm and a sound system to hear all of Gina's instruction. No need to worry about bringing a lunch or snack, the Deer Creek Pony Club will be on hand to offer a snack bar, so you can watch and learn all day!

Send payment to Dragonfire to reserve your spot now, along with a note telling us what your experience level is. Limited stabling is available, so if you would like to reserve a stall, include $30 with your clinic payment.

There will be no refunds on clinic fees unless your spot can be filled from a wait list. Late entries will only be accepted if space warrants, and will be on a CASH basis only.

Dragonfire Riders Graber and Popham Dominate At Dressage Rally

Dragonfire Girls: Hailey Popham, Makena Graber, Maddy Rau, Mia Bouslough, and Taylor McFall represent at the Pony Club Dressage Rally

The May Dressage in the Almonds Schooling Dressage Show was the site of the USPC Sierra Pacific Dressage Rally, a competition where different Pony Clubs from the area test their skills in Stable Management, Organization, and Riding in a Team setting. Our own Deer Creek Pony Club sent several riders to compete for their first time in a mounted rally and the girls from DF came away with fantastic results in the riding phase. Two girls in particular were absolutely outstanding.

We are very proud of DF working student, Makena Graber and her new mount, Mr. Chew. Makena's family just purchased this lovely OTTB from us not more than a few months ago, and she has already formed a strong partnership with him. In his first ever show Mr. Chew won both of his classes, including an unbelievable 12% lead over second place in his first class with a 72%. Wow! This pairing is certainly a match made in heaven and we can't wait to help them further their careers together.

Hailey Popham shined in her maiden performance off of the farm, with her reliable mount, Max. Hailey is another Academy @ Dragonfire success story, giving a blue ribbon performance at Dressage in the Almonds. Hailey's family purchased Max just about a year ago from DF, and he and Hailey have grown into a very pleasing team. They will no doubt give us more exciting news to read about as they venture into the Eventing scene.

Way to go girls! Gooooo Team DF!!!
